Urue Offong/Oruko: First Lady Urges Women To Utilise Opportunities
Women in Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area have been charged to ensure improvement of their economic status through the proper utilisation of the grant made available to them by the Council Chairman, Hon. Uno Etim Uno.
Giving the charge at the February edition of the Urue Offong/Oruko Women Monthly Prayer Summit, themed “Guide us to Your Will, Oh God, the wife of the Chairman, Mrs. Elizabeth Uno, urged the women to invest their grant wisely.
Mrs. Uno, who read from Isaiah 58:9-11 and Psalms 25:8-12, stated that her inspiration for initiating the Women’s Monthly Prayer Summit was rooted in her belief that praying women can influence their families and communities.
Appreciating her husband for supporting the initiative and instituting a business support grant for women, the chairman’s wife reiterated her dedication to supporting women’s welfare.
She announced the fulfilment of the council Chairman’s promise to provide one million naira monthly as a business support grant to women with effect from January, and thereafter shared two million naira among the first batch of 40 women entrepreneurs, to help them grow their businesses and improve their economic wellbeing.
Earlier, Rev. (Mrs.) Grace Ben Offiong, in her homily, said that divine guidance is the cure for the mistakes of life and the foundation for excellent administration and provision of sustainable development.
“On the frequency of this Monthly Prayer Summit, Urue Offong/Oruko shall obtain divine guidance into the realm of excellent performance and development.
“We will no longer make progress in error. You cannot miss the way when you partner with the way. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and Life,” she added.
Prayers were offered for the State, the Governor, the Deputy Governor, and for peace and development in Nigeria. Additionally, prayers were said for the Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, members of the Local Government Executive Council, the Legislature and the entire community.
