The Executive Chairman of Urue Offong/ Oruko Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno, on Friday, March 14, commissioned a solar-powered mega water project in Ukuda Community, Urue Offong Oruko Ward 9.

Speaking at the event, Chief Uno reiterated his commitment to providing social services to the people, noting that but for the insistence of the Councillor representing Urue Offong/Oruko Ward Nine, he wouldn’t have performed an official commissioning of the project.

“This abandoned water project was reactivated and upgraded by my administration to give Ukuda community access to potable water.

“I had intended to hand over the project quietly, but your son, the Councillor, thought the project was too important to you for a quiet handover. I am honoured that you have shown appreciation for our intervention by coming to witness this commissioning, even at short notice,” the chairman said.

In his welcome speech, the Councillor representing Ward 9, Hon. Godwin Owokere expressed gratitude to the Chairman for wiping the tears of many years from Ukuda people, recounting the ordeal of the villagers in search of clean drinking water.

“Our joy knows no bounds. This project is very dear to us because our mothers have suffered for years in search of clean water. We will remain eternally grateful to you for being a true leader and a visionary father.”

In their goodwill messages, the Village Head; Chief Mfon Johnson Esu, Youth President; Pastor (Comrade) Ima Okokon Mkpa and Ward Nine Woman Leader; Mrs Nkoyo George Isinonwi thanked the Chairman for coming to the rescue of Ukuda Community, pledging their unalloyed loyalty to his administration.

“Ukuda had always desired developmental projects, and this one is particularly dear to us. The speed with which the Chairman responded to our cries confirms the value he has for our community. Our women are very happy. Going forward, Ukuda will support the PDP governments of Chief Uno Etim Uno and Governor Umo Eno without hesitation.

“We promise to protect this project to attract more projects,” they assured.

A former Chairman of Urue Offong/ Oruko Local Government Council, Hon. (Elder) Okpoyo Etifit was also full of praise for the stellar performance of Chief Uno.

“Ukuda is excited, Ukuda is overjoyed. I thank the Chairman for heeding the cries of Ukuda Community for clean water supply. Chief Uno Etim Uno is a special gift to Urue Offong/ Oruko Local Government Area, and we will always support him.”
