Essien Udim: Usoro sues for peace in Ukana West 1
The people of Ukana West1, Essien Udim Local Government Area, have been charged to shun all forms of anti-social vices and responsibly conduct themselves to prevent further loss of lives and properties and restore peace in the area.
The charge was given by the Council Chairman, Hon. Ntiedo Usoro when the village heads of, Ikot Akpan, Ikot Afanga, Ikot Otu, Ikot Ukpong Etor, and Ukana Uwa West led by His Highness Sylvanus Obot Ekanem, Clan Head of Ukana West, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Essien Udim Local Government Council Secretariat, Afaha Ikot Ebak, recently.
Appealing to the Ukana West1 community to lay down their arms and create an environment conducive to peace, unity, and development of the area, the council helmsman further charged them to maintain harmonious relationships among themselves for peace to prevail.
Hon. Usoro, who revealed the provision of a Transformer for Ukana West1 since electricity remains a need for the people of Ukana West 1 and the entire Essien Udim, expressed his resolve to improve the development and economic empowerment of the people of Ukana West1, the moment peace is restored.
Also, CSP Chairman Dore, DPO of Essien Udim Division Headquarters, conveyed his appreciation to the Chairman for the prompt response to the insecurity in Ukana West, the successful relocation of the Police Division from Ikot Ekpene to Essien Udim, as well as the support provided to facilitate their operations.
Charging the Ukana West1 community to shun violence, the divisional police officer who urged traditional fathers to work closely with their youths to ensure the restoration of peace, appealed to them for greater collaboration with the Chairman, the Police Division, and the Commissioner of Police, by promptly reporting suspected crimes, to maintain peace in the area.
In their separate responses, Mr. Aniekan Augustus, youth leader of Ikot Ukpongetor, Mr. Michael Ekpenyong, youth leader of Ikot Afanga, Chief Daniel Idio, Family head of Ikot Otu, Chief Saviour Awewen, Village head of Ikot Otu, Hon. Bassey Ekanem, APC ward leader, Pastor Ime Unanam, APC ward Chairman of Ukana west1 and HH Okuku Sylvanus Obot Ekanem, Clan head of Ukana West, collectively expressed their appreciation to Hon. Usoro for his prompt response to their community’s challenges and assured him of their dedication to restoring peace in their community.
Acknowledging that the perpetrators are their brothers, they promised to synergize with all the traditional leaders, youths, and stakeholders to find a lasting solution to insecurity in their community they also appealed to the council boss to bring development to their area in order to help address insecurity.
