Ikot Ekpene: Nkom Set To Provide Scholarships To Indigent Students
The Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon Aniefiok Nkom has announced plans to provide full scholarships to sixty indigent students of the area.
The council boss who made the announcement on Monday, March 10, at the monthly covenant service held at the Ikot Ekpene Town Hall, made a promise to increase the number of beneficiaries in the future.
According to Hon. Nkom, the sixty candidates drawn from the twelve wards that comprise the Local government area have already been registered for the forthcoming JAMB Examination.
The chairman, who described education as the bedrock of every society’s growth and development, said these efforts will aid them to attain the height of academic status needed.
Revealing that plans are underway to commence maintenance of schools in the area, with continued provision of road bumps in traffic areas, Hon. Nkom also urged citizens and residents to maintain a high level of cleanliness around their surroundings for a healthy living.
In his sermon on the theme “The Vision of God must Stand” drawn from Deuteronomy 29:26-29, The Ikot Ekpene Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Apostle EtopAbasi Akpan, charged all to ensure that God’s vision in the local government and families stand to reveal the mind of God towards the people.
Speaking on the characteristics of God’s vision, the clergy who described the as great, and best for manifestation of God’s glory, noted that, such can only be accessed through faith for man’s benefit.
The event featured praise, worship, song ministrations from, The Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Tourism Board and Ikot Ekpene Council Choir.
