Etim Ekpo: Uwa Assures Incoming Village Youth Presidents Of Welfare

-Inaugurates committee to oversee village youth president elections

Individuals who emerge victorious as village youth presidents in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area have been assured that they will be certified and placed on a monthly stipend for a term of three years.

Giving the assurance at the inauguration of a seven-member committee to oversee credible elections across the 76 gazetted villages in the area, which took place at the council secretariat in Utu Etim Ekpo, the chairman, Hon. Gideon Uwa, emphasised the importance of transparent and fair elections.

According to the council helmsman, the committee’s primary responsibility is to uphold democratic principles, ensure that the elections are conducted without bias, and reflect the true will of the youth populace.

Hon. Uwa stated that the elections align with the provisions of the Etim Ekpo Local Government Village Youth President (Establishment) Bye-Law of 2023 as he reaffirms his commitment to ensuring a smooth process.

The committee members are Comr. Etinyene Offongekpe, Chairman; Hon. Godknows Sampson, Member; Hon. Aniekan Udoama, Member; Divisional Police Officer, Utu Etim Ekpo, Member; Hon. Christian Mkporikpo, Member; Hon. Victor Umoh, Secretary; and the NYCN Chairman, Comr. Goodnews Obadiah, Member.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Comr. Etinyene Offongekpe assured the council chairman of a transparent, credible, and fair electoral process and emphasised the committee’s commitment to neutrality and diligence, stating that all necessary measures would be put in place to ensure a hitch-free election.

He also called on all village youth leaders and stakeholders to cooperate with the committee for a smooth electoral exercise.
